The Sd.Kfz. 171 Pz.Kpfw. Ausf. A, also known as the Panther, is a German battle tank developed during the Second World War. Introduced in 1943, it was designed to meet the needs of the German armed forces in the face of increasingly powerful Allied tanks.
The Panther weighed around 45 tonnes and was equipped with a 75 mm cannon capable of firing armor-piercing shells, enabling it to rival the best tanks of the day. Its well-angled steel hull offered effective protection against enemy projectiles.
